Vegan Fashion Week is Back – Will We See You There?
The most exciting event on the sustainable fashion calendar is finally back on the agenda. The first week of October will see Los Angeles buzzing with excitement as Vegan Fashion Week will return to the California Market Center on 8-10 October – with a trade show and fundraising gala, focused on supporting VFW's mission of advancing sustainable fashion, on 9th October.
Founded in 2018, the event has garnered headlines in VOGUE, Womenswear Daily, Forbes and ELLE to name a few – and become an international movement. A long-awaited catwalk event showcasing vegan designs only, Vegan Fashion Week has championed material innovation and introduced audiences to brands such as Vegan Tiger and Fan All Flames. Vegan Fashion Week has, from its inception, been a hub for forward-thinking style concepts and never shied away from shedding light on taboos that the fashion industry would rather keep quiet, such as the treatment of animals used for clothing. Its hard-hitting panels have provided a thought-provoking counter-balance to its vibrant, unique catwalk shows. And the impact of Vegan Fashion Week goes beyond animal rights, and beyond LA: in 2022, the event also teamed up with Ukrainian Fashion Week to highlight sustainable style in the war-torn country.
Another project that allows VFW to spread the knowledge and further expand its reach is the Sustainability Accelerator – a scheme which offers sustainability advice to established brands. This consulting service empowers brands to overhaul their supply chain towards more ethical processes.
With global chapters in the works in London, Paris, New York and Milan, VFW is here to stay. With its focus on cutting-edge innovation and a revolutionising view of sustainability, the event has taken the fashion industry by storm, and it's just getting started. “It's not about being perfect,” says founder and climate activist Emmanuelle Rienda. “It's about inspiring change and creating an ecosystem around values that are truly impactful for humans and non-humans.”
In 2022, VFW added a trade show, Vegan World, to its offering – and this year, A Perfect Jane will be present with a booth at the second iteration of the trade show. Vegan World is the first cruelty-free fashion trade show in the world, and we are proud to show our vegan collections to an audience of industry professionals and ethical fashion enthusiasts alike. Our shoes will also be worn by runway models during the catwalk event.
“I have been dreaming to rock the runway at Fashion Week with A Perfect Jane from the day I started the brand,” says founder Suzanne Harper. “How cool is it that it is going to be Vegan Fashion Week in LA!” For other aspiring entrepreneurs who share her dream, Suzanne has a few words of advice: “dream big, stay focused and make it happen”.
