Why I Founded A Perfect Jane
A Perfect Jane exists because I wanted to do my part in making the world a little better. It all started when I was looking for trendy vegan boots, and I couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I decided to design them myself. And because I’m very passionate about animal rights and the environment, a vegan shoe company that makes its shoes completely ethical was the perfect fit for me! I want to inspire everyone to treat animals, humans, and the environment with the respect they deserve by combining my passion for animals and fashion.
And while we’re on the topic of fashion: another important reason why I founded my company is that the fashion industry is still one of the most polluting industries in the world. But change is coming! People do want more transparency about where products are made, who makes them, and under what circumstances. People are becoming more aware of animal suffering in the fashion industry and the impact it has on our earth. Good for people, animals, and the environment: that’s the fashion industry I see in my dreams! And by founding A Perfect Jane, I can help make a difference.
Our Products Are Ethically Made
We only make products that we find ethically responsible. We produce all of our shoes in Europe, from design to the production of our boots. Nicole, a Dutch designer, designs all of our shoes, and we buy all of our vegan leather in Italy. And because we do not want to use mass production to manufacture our shoes, we handpicked a family-owned business in Porto Portugal to make our boots. We have a personal relationship with everyone we work with and want to make sure that our products are made under humane circumstances. That’s why we visit our factory in Portugal 2 or even 3 times a year. This way we can make sure everyone involved still does their work happily, and that both animals and humans are treated with respect and dignity.
We Use Plant-Based Vegan Leather
Most of our materials are from Italy, where we found an amazing supplier of beautiful sustainable materials. The apples we use in our vegan apple leather are grown in Bolzano, in the North of Italy. Apple leather is an innovative new material made of waste that is recovered from the fruit juice industry. This also reduces pollution because of wastefulness, materials that would normally be thrown away are used to create something new.
We Believe in a Sustainable Wardrobe
The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world, and the leather industry is definitely a big contributor to pollution. Thankfully more and more people are realizing this, and want to do their part in reversing the damage we’ve done to our planet. We want to help fight climate change, and it is our mission to make beautiful vegan women’s boots with as many sustainable materials as possible. Want to know more?
